Scavenger Hunts

To discover in a fun, friendly, interactive way a region, city, district, museum...

By foot, bike, or car, the participants divided in teams, will receive a road book [in colors] containing a detailed map, cultural background, directions and question carefully prepared.
At some steps, fun tests will be offered by the organizers, in order to give the journey rhythm and to create positive interactions between teams.

Here are some examples of activities:

A classic for many years, the scavenger hunt remains a fantastic team-building activity:
The participants’ interest is developed by the novelty or the destination and the questions’ quality. The variety of activities allows each one to express his talent for the team (observation, skills, sense of direction, general knowledge, skill or logical thinking).
While the search is engaging and active, it is designed to have a relaxing rhythm. Moreover, the fun walk promotes exchanges within the teams.

Scavenger Hunt in Montmartre
Through a fun exploration of Montmartre, one of the most diverse and original districts in Paris, this Scavenger Hunt will lead your employees from cabarets to churches, from artists’ shops to Paris’ vineyards… Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to find on the way and of course questions.

• Place des abbesses and one of the last remaining of Guimard’s subway stations
• Le Bâteau-Lavoir, a studio that saw the birth of the cubism art movement (Picasso, Braque, Juan Gris)
• Le Moulin de la Galette, a Landmark of the Butte that inspired Renoir and Van Gogh

Secret Parisian Passageways
Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

From the Louvre museum to Montmartre, Paris is filled with indoors passages. Those parallel itineraries allow one to travel away from all the nuisances of traffic and bad weather. Each gallery has its own character, ranging from the sophisticated woodwork of the Galerie Véro-Dodat to the Passage des Panoramas, the luxury of Galerie Vivienne, the calm chic of Palais Royal or the extravagance of Passage Jouffroy’s shops.
We will see luxurious window displays, the entrance of the Musée Grévin, numerous antique dealers, and the famous sweets shop “A la Mère de Famille” one of the most beautiful of its kind in Paris.

The mysterious Islands
A fun exploration of Paris’ two islands: the Île de la Cité and the Île Saint-Louis. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

This itinerary includes:
• Notre-Dame Cathedral : a tour of the gates and statues, of the Rose window, as well as a history of the church and of course anecdotes.
• Parvis of the Cathedral : the point of reference of French roads and Charlemagne’s statue
• The pont-Neuf and Henry IV’s statue, Square du Vert-Galant
• Place Dauphine, a peaceful haven in front of the Courthouse
• The Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie (outside) which has the oldest clock of Paris

The Marais

• Place des Vosges, one of Paris’ most beautiful squares where Victor Hugo’s home was located

The Louvre
Using a portfolio (in color) that includes enigmas, tips and questions, the participants, divided in teams, must find works of art throughout the museum. We will discover the symbolism of painters, the geometry they used to build their pieces, and anecdotes. Horus, Thot and Anubis will show us the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt and give us the keys to decipher the hieroglyphs in order to find the master pieces of greek antiquity and go through the foundations of the medieval Louvre.

Saint-Germain des Prés
A fun exploration of Saint-Germain des Prés. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

This itinerary includes:
• Notre-Dame de Paris, historical center of the city
• The churches Saint-Julien le Pauvre and Saint-Séverin
• The Hôtel de Cluny – This beautiful building is the location of the National Museum of the Middle Ages and is surrounded by a medieval garden, where aromatic and medicinal plants are grown.
• Saint-Germain des Prés : Odéon, Cour du Commerce Saint-André, rue de Buci, rue de Furstemberg, the Ladurée shop and its delicious macarons, Place Saint-Germain des Prés and its famous cafés, Saint-Sulpice...
  Keep an eye out and try to find the details captured in the photographs in this district rich with history.

Treasure hunt in Barbizon
Participants, divided in teams must uncover a treasure in Barbizon. In order to obtain clues, they must take part in various tests.
The day will consist of the village’s exploration and a course in the forest.
Many painters and writers lived in Barbizon, a lovely village consisting of short houses surrounding the church and Main Street.
On the outskirts of the village, lies the Forest of Fontainebleau, one of the most beautiful French forests. It is composed of oaks, beeches, and resinous trees intertwined with surprising rocks and heather growing out of a sandy earth. A beautiful walk will lead us to the Thieves Cavern (Caverne des Brigands), located in a sea of rocks, that has a great overview of the forest.

Historical enigma in Trianon
To make you discover her domain in an original way, the Queen Marie-Antoinette organizes a treasure hunt in Trianon.
The participants, divided in teams, receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map of the domain, enigmas and clues. The informations found in the chambers and gardens lead to a hidden treasure chest.
Several clues found throughout the course by looking at the decorations, the dates and other elements allow to open the combination lock created by Louis XIV, who had a great interest in locksmithing.
Fun tests that allow to win more clues will also be offered by organizers.
This game will make you discover the Trianon domain and its history in a fun way.
This itinerary includes:

Honfleur: the Gonneville's treasure
A treasure hunt in the beautiful harbor of Honfleur, cradle of renowned sailors. The participants, divided in teams, will receive a portfolio, including a map, cultural informations, questions, as well as pictures of details they must find.
Walking around the old streets, the harbor, and the Sainte-Catherine district, participants must meet characters, collect clues, and take fun tests at some stops to keep going and find the treasure.
This itinerary includes:
• The old harbor and its colorful houses, which made the city so famous
• The Sainte-Catherine church, renowned for its wooden framework
• Old streets and norman houses
• The Notre Dame de Grâce chapel, which offers a beautiful overview of the Harbor, the Seine’s estuary and the Pont de Normandie.

Exploration of Nantes
A fun exploration of Nantes, the historical capital of the Dukes of Britanny.
Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

This itinerary includes:
• The Dukes of Britanny’s castle and the great view that one has from its ramparts
• The Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul cathedrals, of late gothic style
• Medieval houses at Colombage
• Renaissance Mansions, and Golden Age buildings
• Graslin district and the passage Pommeraye, which represent well 19th century bourgeois society
• The old LU biscuit factory transformed into a cultural center
• La Cigale brewery, a beautiful example of Art Nouveau style
• Nantes’ Island: It used to be occupied by shipyards. The Island is now undergoing a vast urbanization program, for instance the “machines des îles” and the famous elephant.
• Depending on the time available: exploration of Trentemoult, an old fishermen’s village, consisting of low roof houses and a labyrinth of alleys and small squares. Change of scenery guaranteed!
Length: 3 to 4 hours (depending on whether or not Trentemoult’s exploration is included)


Lille: let's head north
A fun exploration of Lille’s old district. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

This itinerary includes:
• The Grand’ Place, center of Lille’s activities
• The old stock exchange, Julien Destrée’s masterpiece
• The Place du Théâtre and rue de la Bourse, where beautiful 17 and 18th century facades align
• Old streets and small squares, and the typical signboards hanging on their fronts
• The Notre-Dame de la Treille cathedral
• Optional : a tour of the Palais des Beaux-Arts or of the Hospice Comtesse
• Specialties shops, such as Meert waffles, on rue Esquermoise

Lyon
A fun exploration of Lyon by foot. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

This itinerary includes:
• The Saint-Jean and Saint-Paul districts both registered on the UNESCO’s world heritage list. Cathedrals, churches, squares and alleys, traboules (passages) create an admirable ensemble between the Saône and the Fourvière hill.
• Fourvière: a splendid view on Lyon from atop the hill, where lies the basilique Notre-Dame.
• Mur des Lyonnais, a large fresco representing Lyon’s famous historical figures.

Police investigation in Deauville
The participants, divided in teams, must investigate to resolve an enigma based on references to American detective movies (an allusion to the American movie festival that takes place every year in Deauville). To help them, Inspectors are stationed throughout the city and give them messages to decipher...
The itinerary will bring us to the beach and the famous promenade des planches, the casino, the Etablissement des Bains de Mer, the harbor, and the city’s most beautiful villas. At several stops, the participants will have to take part in tests written in the police story (remote control car races, shooting, slot machines, challenges requiring focus and dexterity, fantasy race on the beach). At the end, they will have to find the stolen item.

Amboise: Leonardo da Vinci's treasure
In the beautiful surroundings of Amboise, participants, divided in teams go look for a treasure, with the help of Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian genius, who was invited by Francis I in 1516.
This treasure hunt allows us to explore the old city of Amboise, the royal castle, and the banks of the Loire. The trip is spiced up by fun tests in relation to the region and Renaissance figures (cup-and-ball, croquet, blowgun, logic games).
By collecting informations throughout the trip, and winning clues in tests, participants will be able to find the treasure.
Optional:
• Toue ride, a traditional Loire boat: this ride will allow us to explore the wild side of the river, and the beautiful scenery of the castle.
• Wine tasting: in a cellar by the banks of the Loire, tasting of some Loire wines with a local winemaker.

A fun exploration of Chartres and its extraordinary cathedral. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

• One of France’s most famous cathedrals, it is so because of its stained glass windows and its famous labyrinth.
• Typical old Chartres houses

• The Eure river’s banks, its public wash-houses and its many small bridges

Brussels
Exploration of Brussels through a Scavenger hunt. The participants, divided in teams, will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map of the city, instructions and questions. By observing building fronts, participants will have to identify details depicted in their portfolio. During the route, fun tests will be offered by organizers (local specialties tasting: beer, chocolate, speculoos, painting, music quiz...).
This itinerary includes:
• Grand Place: “the world’s most beautiful theater” according to Victor Hugo, it is surrounded by sumptuous buildings embellished by many details.
• Frescos: Frescos depicting some of Belgium’s most famous cartoonists’ heroes decorate some building fronts. A small tour will allow us to see some of them.
• Manneken Pis: One of Brussels’ most famous landmarks.
• Place du Petit Sablon: The famous intricate grillwork surrounding it, and the many statues representing the different crafts of the past.
• Place Royale and Mont des Arts: The museum district and Royal Palace
• Galerie Saint-Hubert: a covered walkway with many refined shops
• Rue des Bouchers: old neighborhood, with many alleys and old houses

Berlin
A fun exploration of Berlin, an ever growing capital. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

• Downtown (Mitte), where many historical buildings and museums are located along the Spree
• Potsdammer Platz: a district entirely rebuilt since the wall fell, with a futurist touch
• The Kulturforum: a succession of museums, concert halls and embassies, right by the biggest park in Berlin
• The Reichstag and its neighborhood with its many architectural masterpieces by some of the most famous contemporary architects

Prague
A fun exploration of Prague, one of the most fascinating cities of Europe. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

This itinerary includes:
• The Municipal House, an Art Nouveau masterpiece located on Old Town square that displays a succession of baroque and gothic facades. On this square, which is one of the most beautiful in Europe, one can find the town hall and its famous astronomical clock.
• The Josefov district, where Kafka’s soul remains, has been able to retain its extraordinary charm. Explore Judaic symbolism and the legend of the Golem at the synagogues and the Jewish cemetery.
• The Charles Bridge, whose sometimes surprising structures representing the history of Christianity, leads to the Mala Strana district, located between the river and the Castle’s hill. The Saint-Nicolas church is considered to be the nicest baroque monument in bohemia.

Police investigation in the heart of London
In the footsteps o Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot and Scotland Yard, the participants, divided in teams, must solve a mystery. Through investigation by meeting with witnesses and chasing suspects to obtain information, this itinerary allows one to explore the capital’s center in a fun way.
This itinerary includes:
• The parliament and Big Ben, one of the most famous images of London
• Westminster abbey, where all the royal ceremonies take place
• Saint James’s Park, which has a beautiful view of Buckingham Palace
• The district of St James’s, a reflection of traditional England
• Picadilly, a succession of luxurious shops, private clubs and prestigious hotels
• The National Gallery, one of the museums with the most paintings in the world
• Trafalgar square and Charring Cross, official center of London
• Covent Garden, where the theaters rule

Lisbon: Vasco's treasure
A fun exploration of Lisbon. The participants, divided in teams, go on a hunt to find a treasure, passed down through generations by sailors since Vasco da Gama. The itinerary is done by foot and tramway and allows to explore many different districts of Lisbon while collecting clues leading to the final objective, the treasure hidden in the city. Keep your eyes out and do not forget to answer to the questions!
To obtain additional clues, fun tests, linked to the culture of Lisbon are also offered (azulejos painting, local specialties tasting, skill games...).
This itinerary includes:
• The Alfama: old fishermen and sailors’ district, this labyrinth of alleys and stairs is a typical district of Lisbon, and offers a splendid view on the Tagu.
• Belém: Point of departure of the vessels that made Portugal’s prosperity, Belém has sumptuous monuments, that retain the memories of the adventurers (monastery, tour of the Tagus, Navigators’ memorial).
• Quays of the Tagus, recently renovated, they offer many clubs, cafes and restaurants.
• The Baixa, heart of the city, rebuilt after the earthquake of 1755.

Counter-espionage raid in Marrakech
In Marrakech’s medina, one of the most beautiful in North Afric, the participants, divided in teams, must investigate to find stolen documents. Throughout palaces, ryads, souks and a labyrinth of alleys, you will have to meet with people (spice traders, glaoua dancers, snake charmers, fortune tellers...) to obtain clues and information.
The success of the investigation will rely on the competences of each and everyone to solve the enigmas and pass the tests (such as tell spices apart, reproduce zellige mosaics, blowgun, logic...).
This itinerary includes:
• The souks, real labyrinths of covered alleys where merchants and artisans of every type are present.
• The Djema el Fna square: the heart of the city, where depending on the time, artists, dancers, storytellers, , merchants and restaurants succeed one another.
• Bahia Palace, Badia Palace.
• The Saadian Tombs, Bab Agnaou and the Place des Ferblantiers.

Scavenger hunt in Seville
A fun exploration of Seville, capital of Andalusia and its exceptional wealth. Divided in teams, the participants will receive a portfolio (in color), including a detailed map, cultural and historical background, pictures of details to look for and of course questions.

This itinerary includes:
• The Giralda, an ancient minaret now cathedral, the biggest in the world of gothic style.
• Santa Cruz, the old jewish district, a true labyrinth of alleys, small squares cooled down by fountains, and flowery patios.
• The Alcazar, ancient arab palace and masterpiece of mudéjar art.
• The Plaza de España, magnificently decorated with vivid and colorful azulejos.
Optionally, typical historical figures of sevillan culture can animate the journey: Don Juan, Carmen, Figaro, Christophe Colomb...
